Recommendation for a cash register

I'm helping out a friend with his music store, where he rents and sells music instruments and books. He is totally computer illiterate, and doesn't really know how to do his books. He wants to be able to have a cash register system that processes orders (via barcode), takes a count of daily sales, and performs inventory (and reorder as necessary).

Any recommendations?
