Recommendation for a 27" TV

I'm looking for a new 27" TV since I just sold mine a few days ago. My budget is around $400-$450 because I'll need to buy a new TV cabinet as well. My old TV was a Sony Trinitron which was over 10-11 years old at least. I am currently looking at this one:

Circuit City has it for 399 so I figure I can PM it with bestbuy and then get the $50 MIR as well as the 10% gift card. Are there any other brands or stores I should look at instead? I'm not interested in a HDTV atm. 27" is the preferred size.

Update:

Did I get a good deal on my TV?

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=1051826212607&skuId=5430367&type=product&productCategoryId=cat03003

I got it for $427.49 + $59.99 (4 year at home service plan) + tax

My previous TV which I returned to CC was the panasonic 27" for $399.99 + $59.99 (3 year in store service plan) + tax

I think you've got a good one there. Panasonic makes nice flat screen sets..I just helped a friend with his new 36" Panasonic Tau, it looks great.

I got a Toshiba 27AF42 last year and picture is great. Not a fair comparison but its much better than the 7 YO 27" Sony I have in my den.

I bought it right after Christmas from BB for $299 with free shipping. If you can wait, I'm sure you can find something good for that level after Christmas. I remember there were a ton of deals on TVs last year around that time.

But the only difference I could see with it is that it has PIP. Everything else seems the same so I figured I'll just save $30 because I don't need PIP

LOL that Panasonic TV has the same remote my $2400 Panasonic uses.

If I were you. I'd hunt the hot deals sites and wait. You could probably hook up with something for alot less.

Adding to your postcount again I see.

Anyway, try Sears. They pricematch pretty readily.

But I'll miss out on almost $90 in rebates if I don't get it from CC. I read somewhere that CC might be going out of business in the future. Has anyone else heard this? I wonder what they'll do with all the customers that bought an ESP from them.

I tried pricematching real hard for my HDTV at CC and they wouldn't budge even though I had ads, a competitive bid from PC Richards (which was almost next door), buying the $400 extended warranty and getting the CC CC. But they wouldn't move. They didn't seem to care at all there. PC Richards gave the TV to me at the price I asked without question so I got it from them.

before I even clicked on the link I was going to recommend Panasonic

you are a step in the right direction... component inputs too! sweet!

buy that one 🙂

Dang. I was also going to push for free delivery since BestBuy does it.

The equivalent Sony Wega is $449 which doesn't have the component inputs.

component is pretty much useless unless you have a large tv, i would say at least 36, on a 27 the difference between component and s-video is very very little. that goes for non-hdtv's, i'm not sure about hdtv.

check the new Consumer Reports, they just did a review and found that Sanyo is among the most reliable/fewest broken TV's

Yeah I saw that. My mom's trying to talk me into buying a Sanyo but I don't know how they are compared to the panasonic's, sony's, etc...

My local Wal-Mart has a truckload of Apex 27" TV's for $189. 😀

You might need to go through that truckload to find one that works, though. 😛
