Recommend Your Macbook Pro Bag

Well after about 6 months of no Apple laptop I caved today and bought a 15" MBP. I got $100 (student discount) plus a free 8GB iPod Touch and a free $100 printer, so how could I lose 🙂

I didn't buy a case when I was at the store, but I definitely need one since this laptop will be traveling with me weekly.

I'd like a bag that is under $100 (but I am a little flexible) and offers decent protection and is well fitted to the MBP (ie I don't want to bouncing around inside the laptop pocket). So what bags do you guys use that you like?

I like the neoprene laptop cases. That way I can throw my laptop in just about any bag and it'd reasonably protected.

I just got my Booq sleeve in the mail. It is the same one I had for my old Asus 14", just re-sized for the 13" macbook. It is really excellent, and the exterior is some sort of ballistic material that is very sturdy. It fits like a glove, and the profile is small enough to where you can toss it in your backpack/luggage without worrying about banging up your macbook.

It is like $50 shipped.

Here we go:

I love the look of the booq bag products. I want something that will hold my power cord and a set of headphones too. I'd probably have to step up to larger ($$$) booq bag.

I would suggest getting a neoprene sleeve for your MBP so that you can use it with your old backpacks. I've found that to be the most versatile and economical way of carrying it, since I do a fair amount of switching between computer bags, messenger bags and backpacks depending on the situation.

I wish that the Dell bag that I have was still sold on their website. I find it in local computer shops all the time, brand new, for usually around $30. Well padded, has a removable velcro divider that I find is just the right size (with my MacBook) to fit my power adapter in the left over space, plus my digital camera, cables, 2.5" external, and so on. Has plenty of other compartments, you can carry a ton of stuff in it, and it is hard core reliable.

Like I said, I wish I could give you a better information than "That awesome Dell bag that rocks."

back in 2007, oakley had their vertical bag 2.0 that fit the mbp 15", which i bought and still own/love to this day. i think oakley now came out with their vertical bag 3.0, in both beige/silver and black now. it was $100, but so far, after taking it abroad on several trips and having it get thrown everywhere, i say its pretty damn good protection. tons of pockets/zippers to boot as well!

This. I bought a CaseLogic neoprene sleeve for about $15 on Amazon last August. It's been great.

I ended up with a BooqBag. I wanted one really badly when I had my last MacBook, I hope it lives up to my expectations.

I used my MBP for work, and my bag is the Booq FOLEE II. I really like this bag...has a place for everything without feeling overly bulky.

I use this with my 17" MBP and love it.

The bag is a tad on the heavy side but it has a ton of space and is very well built.

I bought a Hurley backpack from Apple for like $80 and I really like it. The best part IMO is that it doesn't necessarily look like a laptop bag. It just looks like an ordinary backpack. I would recommend it.

booq makes fantastic stuff. i had it for my original macbook. i think booq, tom bihn, and axio are probably the premier brands in macbook case/bag/protection business.

hey dmw16 which booqbag did you end up with? I am also in the market for one and I am looking at the booq Boa Nerve Large. Its a messenger bag with a removable sleeve. Looks pretty sweet. The only problem is its still new and its not gonna ship till later. Anyone else have experiences with booq? Hows the durability for these things? I will be carrying my 15'' mbp which is pretty heavy as is as well as school books.
