Looking to place a few wifi security cams for our garage, driveway and back yard. I'll be able to record to a dedicated box. What type of hardware/cam do i need? 250$ +/- 15% le-way
 
The main issue is the recording.

You have to decide first if you record 24/7 or just Movement Triggered recording, how long is the cycle that you keep the recording and on which media the recording is done on.

I'm flexible in that department. I'll accommodate to whatever it takes. Though movement triggered recording would make things easier on drive space. I have 2 500g drives to use if movement triggered recording devices are much more money. If I need to buy SDHC cards then I'll do it.
