Greetings -

I've got an old ASUS A7V133 (Athlon 1 GHz) with a VIA chipset. I've read that the VIA chipset causes grief for lot of wireless NICs, tho' I don't know if that's limited to WinXP or not. I tend to run Win98 or Win2K. That said -

Can anyone recommend a wireless NIC known to work with an Athlon/VIA chipset-based motherboard, and the OS's with which it's known to work?

Thanks kindly.

I am not aware of any issues other than the original XP bug that caused problems for
802.11g hardware. I'm sure most vendors have that sorted by now. A couple other
options if you are not comfortable using a wireless NIC card is to use a bridge that connects
to your existing ethernet NIC (like the D-Link DWL-G810 & G820), or an USB based wireless
adapter. Whatever route you, buy from somewhere you can take it back in case it doesn't
work like it should.
