Ha, that's funny. I'm doing the same loner vacation in NYC, the 14th through the 18th.

I picked up a Citypass off Ebay for about 40 bucks. It has tickets to Empire, Moma, Museum of natural history, the Intrepid, and the Guggenheim. I also have free tickets for Conan and a Daily Show taping, but I requested those a month ago.

It appears we will be in the same boat during the same time! You scored a nice deal on the Citypass, I wish I had known about that earlier. Where will you be staying and what else will you be doing?

Staying with my sister and her roomates. They have an 49th floor apartment next to the Park. I'll probably pick up tickets to a broadway show in one of those TKTS lines. Other than that, my sister has some stuff planned at night plus St. Patty's Day will be a blast.

Lots of things to do.

- I say walk around Midtown and just enjoy the hustle and bustle of the Financial district.
- Then take the subway to the West/East Village. Again, just to walk around.
- Window shop 5th Ave (buy something too..)

Personally, I love walking around in NYC. No need to follow a tour guide or visit touristy places. Just go to a cafe, look out the window, and enjoy.!

You'll be right around the corner from the New York Public Library. It's an incredible place. I once wrote a book in the Reading Room - you HAVE to check that out, awesome. And open to just anyone, obviously - they let ME in 😀 .

Also, you're very close to the Theater District - if you don't want to go to a show, head over to the area when the shows close and wait around the stage entrances to see some celebs, get autographs etc. Look for a big bunch of people hanging around, the more people, the better the actors.

If you're hungry & cheap, Gray's Papaya on corner of 8th Ave and 37th street you get 2 hot dogs and a papaya drink for 2.75. No tables, just lean against the counter. If I'm in NYC that day I'll probably be there (waves).

Be warned, expect a LOT of people. I lived in NYC for 20 years and even I am surprised by how busy the streets are in midtown.

If you like to walk as much as myself, I recommend the UN building, Chinatown <great place to buy gifts but don't forget to bargain>, Little Italy, Central Park, Macy and Bloomingdale.

Cathedral of St. John the Divine, NYC main library, St. Patrick's Cathdral, St. Paul Chapel near Ground Zero.

Oh yes, don't forget Wall Street, and of course, various plays and such on Broadway.

Here are some good places to see:

Empire State Building
Statue Of Liberty
Tribute - A Celebration of New York City
? Apollo Theater
? Battery Park
? Carnegie Hall
? Cathedral St. John The Divine, The
? Central Park
? Chrysler Building
? City Hall
? Ellis Island
? Flat Iron Building
? Fort Tryon Park
? Grand Central
? Javits Center
? Lincoln Center
? Madison Square Garden
? New York Public Library
? New York Stock Exchange

I am going to the East coast without my husband to visit some friends; he cannot come because he has to work. I will be in Boston from March 10-14, and NYC from March 14-19.

I will be staying with friends from college in Boston, The Bryant Park Hotel from March 14-17, and am currently looking for friends with space for me to stay at the evenings of the 17th and 18th.

That being said, most of my friends will be working during the day. I have never spent time in NYC alone, and am wondering what activities you would suggest or recommend for a female out on her own. If there are any nice museums, etc. that I could spend time at during the day, that would be fantastic.

I am not much of a shopper, although I enjoy walking and browsing on occasion. I believe it might be too cold to do "touristy" stuff (i.e. Statue of Liberty, etc.), but am open to suggestions.

I will need to fill up my weekdays from 9am-5 or 6pm, as my friends will be finished with work around 5-6pm.

Making Tomato soup is great, try it.
😛
