Its 3am, and I'm working on a paper about Voltaire and Kant's view on the Enlightenment. All the instrumental music I have is on my desktop at home (700+ miles away), so I need some recommendations. Also a good opportunity to hear new music, which I'm always up for.

So go. Recommend some good instrumental music already. Won't help (most likely) for tonight but its nice for some future reference.

most of the stuff by bela fleck and the flecktones is instrumental. they have a jazz/bluegrass sound

try bt.etree.org and search for bela fleck, free and legal
bela fleck trio is also good (more of a bluegrass sound to it)

Um... I could go on forever. Here's what I'm listening to right now:

Handel - Harpsichord Suites
Handel - Concerti Grossi Op. 6
Bach - Harpsichord, Violin Concertos
Bach - Unaccompanied Cello Suites
Beethoven - Piano Sonatas

Of course, most people do not like listening to harpsichord (I happen to love it), but you can find most of that stuff performed with a piano instead.

Whirling Dervish - Sufi music is great for studying, has voices but if you don't speak Turkish the lyrics woun't be a problem.

Rainbird - Coyote Oldman or most anything by Coyote Oldman.
