Title says it all. The wife is flying though books this summer (she is a teacher) and I'm looking for something to read as well.

John Grisham is my favorite author. I've read everyone of his books.
Stephen Hunter has entertained me and I've read most of his books.
Never liked Stephen King much except for Enter the Dragon and the Dark Tower series.
Loved the LOTR trilogly but I was looking for something away from fantasy.

Read any good ones lately?

John Scalzi - Old Man's War (military SF, but lighter than Drake or Weber)

Jasper Fforde - The Eyre Affair (whimsical mystery starring literary detective Thursday Next, a bit like a Douglas Adams novel)

Try Angels & Demons by Dan Brown, I just read it and it was pretty entertaining.

Funny you should mention profit. I recently watched a documentary about the u.s. civil war. Most have seen enough of this, but this one was about the sex trade in the south and porn sent from the north to soldiers in the battlefields. Seems that nothing can stop it. When the union rolled into new orleans, there were enough hookers for everyone. When they rolled into memphis, hookers had to be imported from the countryside.
