Recommend Some Games

Hey guys, well I finally think my spree with the BF series has ended. I've been playing pretty much nothing but the Battlefield series since the demo for 1942 in September of 2002. Well, now I think it's time to move on to some new games.

Anyone have any recommendations? I'm not really into fantasy games, but I'm willing to check out games like Oblivion, etc (I love games where freedom is wide open)

If you've never played FarCry, you should definitely pick it up. It's still a great game even when compared to even the newest releases IMO.

Warhammer 40k Dawn of War (RTS) is great. MP is active.
I hear rise of legends is decent

I second FEAR and HL2, DOOM3 too if you really like the franchise, and the dark...

i don't why i keep torturing myself but i keep loading up BF2 now and then. Every time i do, i remember why i stopped playing. as soon as you join a server, its not fun to die 11 times before you actually move out of your spawn. same thing happened to me with that other game, spec ops (? very similar to bf2).

CoD2 is fun SP and MP an be fun for a bit. Although now, I don't know whats going on with the server i play on. Sometimes i swear people are cheating but if you look at their scores, its obvious they aren't, but something is going on. I'm wondering if there is something wrong with the game itself, like the hitboxes are fvcked up. I can be 2 feet behind a guy and lay into him and not have a single shot land and then he turns around and kills me in 1 shot. same with guys that are further away. used to be able to hit guys running no matter how far away they were, now, might as well not even try. its not internet lag or fps lag because both are good.

i just need another game to play. its like there's nothing out there.

Oblivion . . .

my first fantasy RPG [it is actually FPS fighting] . . . and i have over 565 hours into it

as "wide open" as is possible and awesome gfx if you have the computer to run it.

Unreal 2004, becuase it has even more mods than BF1942. If you want to take a break from FPS, I really like Rome Total War.

I actually don't have that problem TOO often in BF2. If the spawn point is getting hosed bad (like I did 2-3 in a row as soon as I spawn) I just say fvck it and spawn elsewhere. Or as soon as I spawn I'll try and get the noob tube out to at least knock down one or two guys real quick.

ANd I think you're talking about Joint Ops. Sometime that game gets too crazy like that on the 150 player servers but there's only one of those now and since the game is a little older its not as popular so its more controlled, 64 player games, which on Kutu Arms Market is hella fun. I load up JO just to check for Kutu Arms, if yes then I join, if no then I quit and load BF2.

Yeah for me COD MP was never very good. And I hear 1 had better than 2, which from what I seen of a buddy playing 1, was pretty weak. He was all pumped about it when I was playing awesome MP games like DoD:S. Like the old Medal of Honor, it was great SP, but not really built around MP (like FEAR IMO) so it didn't feel as smooth and polished as say the Source games do.



To the OP, definitely get HL2. Oblivion is great and San Andreas is wide-open and cheap.

You'll have to possibly indicate some genres you like and whether or not you want SP or MP. Games like Civ4 are very very good, just not everyone likes a TBS...

Yeah, I think BF2 is a disgrace to the BF franchise. I still love BF1942, but what I like the most are the mods (DC, Forogotten Hope, Pirates, etc). My favorite types of FPS are where you can "control the combat", whether it be single player or multiplayer. By "control the combat", I mean you don't have to follow SUCH a linear path that games like MOH require you to take. I must say that CoD is better at this, so I might have to give CoD2 a try, as well as HL2.

But yeah, Oblivion looks up my alley, because I like the fantasy type stuff when it's more medieval fantasy (like LOTR), and not stuff like Final Fantasy.

Oh yeah, I've already played and beaten 90% of San Andreas for the PS2 (forgot to mention that one).

God do I hate arty. So lame and overpowered. I never played commander but it really seems like you get to use it way too often. In Joint Ops, engineer classes can pick mortars but its actually reasonable because there is a limited arc/range you can fire at, you can only fire 4 before reloading, etc. So they are hella useful for corwded areas and for clearing the area for your assault guys to hit, but its not this constant bombardbent bs that happens in BF2. I really like Joint Ops in that respect since the land and air vehicles are not overpowered bs that clan boys are in CONSTANTLY, and there is no lame arty bombardments constantly.

But otherwise, I've not been spawn camped much at all. Usually they will take over the point unless they camp out of range which can get annoying, but hell just get somewhere safe and do the same to them (most servers allow it).

Funny you mention that, because Rome Total War is the only other game for the PC I play religiously. I play it and all the mods (RTR, LOTR: FA, etc).

so far I've been playing Oblivion a lot. Though I am starting to get tired of it so i'm doing the main quest instead of all the side ones.

I have the new Ghost Recon warfare game lined up, oh and the new Hit Man: Blood Money as well.

Defintely. I'm playin FH .7 right now as a matter of fact, but it seems like it might be some while before they release. Same with POE.
