Recommend some Ben Harper

I heard Steal My kisses which I really liked, but I haven't heard any of his other stuff. I liked the kind of up tempo, but still mellow style. Is most of his stuff like this?

Any recommendations of songs or CDs of his?

I'm going to Ben Harper/Jack Johnson this summer, can't wait. My friend says Harper's new CD is a masterpiece....

Can you guys tell me if those are CDs or songs?

Millennium - I can't remember, but I think you were the one that recommended Pinback, Death Cab for Cutie and Mogwai. I really liked what I heard of all of them, I think I liked DCFC the best though. Wanted to thank you, if you're the one.

Ben Harper is the BEST. I love everything, from the upbeat Steal My Kisses to the more pensive stuff. /advertisement

Off his new cd you might like Brown Eyed Blues and Bring The Funk (the cd is Diamonds on the Inside). Mamma's Got a New Girlfriend is funny. If you want to try an entire cd, my favorite is Fight For Your Mind.

Not me sorry. I will say thanks though! Sorry you can't remember who it actually was.

all I remembered was that it involved you somehow. It turns out it was your thread, and not you making the recommendation.

I found it.

He makes his own guitars.

Also, in his house, he has a walk in closet of guitars, most of which are handmade. I think there were over 300 guitars in the room.

All his stuff is pretty good. If you use usenet, shows pop up from time to time in the .shn group. Live stuff is cool.

If you liked Death Cab for Cutie, Ben Gibbard (the vocalist) also released material under the name of "All Time Quarterback" and just finished an IDM project with DNTEL called "The Postal Service" which was really cool. They're one of my favorite local acts.
