Recommend on how to make Outlook emails migration-proof

I have Outlook 2010 and I'm going to be upgrading my computer soon. Right now I have all my emails archived the moment they hit my inbox and automatically categorized. I have a favorites folder for each category. I'm afraid that everything will fall apart when I decide to move my emails to a new computer. Will the color-coded categories still show up? Is it better for me to turn each favorites folder (hence, each category) into a genuine pst folder so that it can be more migration-proof? Any suggestions on how to go about that? TIA.
