Recommend my old man a decent slide scanner :)

i don't know what it is about direct and indirect objects that makes them so difficult to grasp.

anyway, i just picked up a canon FS4000US on ebay for $250.

Que?

If you're referring to my appalling grammar, 😉

As far as budget is concerned, I don't know at this stage. Will ask tonight, but until then, what sort of quality can you get at what price?

Cheers

The Coolscan 9000ED would be stupid for him to buy unless he wants to scan medium format also. By saying slides i'm guessing you mean 35mm mounted slides so for that your best bet would probably be the Nikon 5000ED which had an optional adapter that holds 50 slides at once. This will save a lot of frustration changing slides all the time.

the suto slide loaders are crap, at least the ones fro the older model were, they never worked and you ended up doing it 1 by 1 anyway

Any idea on a price scale, from 'don't bother' to the 9000ED?

Not sure how much he wants to spend, so I want to be able to give him a range...

What else does Nikon make?

they make 3 scanners

http://www.nikonusa.com/Find-Y...m-Scanners/index.page?

the 9000ED is the best one and only one that will do medium format
the others are equally as good just slower/limited to 35mm

they are like 600-1000-2000 i think in price

try that.. though i have used the Nikon Coolscan slide scanner and its awesome.. but its $$$ too

I think we'll stick with one of the Nikons 🙂

Not digital yet, and unlikely to in the near future. He currently shoots with an F80, a Olympus Om-2, and a Nikonos V setup, mainly on velvia, provia, and tmax.

if he shoots velvia and provia why does he shoot Tmax and not SUPERIA for 35mm negative film?
