Anyone in top of cyber olympics over at futuremark uses 2-2-2 AND moderate bandwitdh ~260 even though there are 340Mhz chips out there relizing AMD 64's shine best LL. "

Hope this is the same for Dual Opterons and X2.

But what about 2.5-3-2 @ 250... that seems like it would be the best of both worlds...

In all reality, it doesn't matter much. Take a peek at the graphs here: http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/memory/display/ocz-ddr600_4.html

The difference is so marginal, it's not worth worrying about. Can anyone really tell the diff between 182 and 190 fps (or even 81 and 86 fps)?

I bought these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231032

These give me a great balance of timings and bandwidth. I run them currently at 239 fsb at 2.5-3-2-5-1T @ 2.7v and I've had them at 263 fsb with 3-3-2-5-1T @ 2.8v. There is no noticeable difference in speed to me (benchmarking, sure there is but who really cares about that). If you are running long session calaculating (folding) and time is a factor, high bandwidth ram is probably your best bet. For short session blasts (gaming, etc.) tighter timings.....

I keep reading this everywhere... I have read several "over-clocking guides", but have never found a good reason as to HOW and WHY all 64's always use a divider (even when set to 1:1 ratio)? Anyone?

-Thanks

Try the Memory in my sig, it can do 210fsb 222, and 278fsb 2.5/3/3/6.
In my testing, I found the yes 222 is better all around compared to 2.5,3,3,6, however it really depends upon what you are doing on the computer.
Benchmarks really do not mean squat with these chips, it's all about real life performance.

The OCZ Plat EBs are in stock at newegg...and on sale to boot. I just received another pair today. I would still recommend paying the extra money on some really good memory. I have tried the generic route with a divider (mushkin value green $76 for a Gig) and ran them at the default value out of the box. Even with my freq at 240 and a 166 divider, the performance loss in games (HL2) was noticable to me. Maybe it's just my system.

I do believe in a divider, and I'm currently running 270 with a 150 divider keeping my ram at 2-2-2-10 1T @ 202Mhz. My value wouldn't do this...just a thought.

If you want mem that will do 250+ @ good timings, get Crucial Ballistix PC4000. I hear they do 2-2-2 @ DDR500 and can break DDR600.
