'Voodoo Child' by Jimi Hendrix (Or the very similar-sounding but better recorded/mastered version by Stevie Ray Vaughn)
"In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" by Iron Butterfly [9 out of 10 Stoners love this song]

These are all fairly popular picks:
"Estranged" by Guns N'Roses <---My Absolute All-Time Favorite Song
"Baba O'Riley" by The Who <---I'll be listening to this song for the rest of my life on a near-to-daily-basis
"American Pie" by Don McLean
"Rock N'Roll Ain't Noise Pollution" by AC/DC
"Gallows Pole" & "Thank You" by Led Zeppelin
"Free Bird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd
"Slow Ride" by Foghat
"Coming Back to Life" by Pink Floyd
"Subterranean Homesick Blues" & "Like a Rolling Stone" by Bob Dylan

I second these votes. While we're on the Hendrix bit, I think I'll also add "Freedom" and "Red House."

("Red House" has a very good sound. It follows the proper chord progression of a true classic 12 bar blues: I, IV, I, I, IV, IV, I, I, V, IV, I, I+transition. I love that progression... I used to use it in all my own written songs.)

Lmao, Flying High Again at Walgreens? But then again, I did hear SRV's "Pride and Joy" one time there...

Oh yeah... I've heard the Stones' "Satisfaction" and stuff like that there... stuff you'd never imagine an old lady drugstore playing. My biggest problem was the lack of variety.

I'm sorry, but I hardly think that Stevie Ray Vaughn's can be considered "very similar" to the 1968 recording in the Experience, and I'm not talking about audio fidelity.

I will say that, if you're getting into this classic rock stuff and want somewhat of a scholarly exercise, compare and contrast "Sympathy for the Devil" by the Rolling Stones and the cover by Guns 'N Roses. Note the differences in the available technology and the total change in meaning (without a change in words) through a change in sound effects.

I'm expanding my music horizons 🙂 Please recommend me some good 20th century rock to listen to!!

I already have a lot of the Beatles and Johnny Cash

Do you have "Hurt"? It's a Nine Inch Nails cover, but it's still my favorite Cash song of all time. (The NIN original sucks.)

Would you be willing to listen to some 21st century rock? My favorites are The Black Keys, Grease Gadget, Diamond Nights, Fu Manchu (a little bit), and Jet.

Theres one band that i could really recomend to you thats great, Led Zeppelin. They are the fathers of modern day heavy music.
Here are some songs:
Communication Breakdown
Dazed and Confused
Kashmir
The Ocean
Black Dog
Song Remains the Same
Whole lotta Love
and of course Stairway to Heaven

World's best drum solo: Moby Dick (Led Zep 2)

Funny you mention that, because Alice in Chains is my favorite band, but they defintely aren't classic rock.

RIP Layne
