Recommend me some cheap speakers

So I think my Klipsch Pro-media 4.1s are dead.

Anyways, I need some replacement speakers.

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for cheap speakers. I'm looking for a 2.1 system, I see newegg has some as low as 10 or 12 bucks. I'm not spending any more than $30 or $40.

I really just need them to listen to music, and I'm not an audiophile or anything. I just need speakers that don't sound terrible and will last a year or two.

If not recommendations on a certain model, does anyone have suggestions on a brand they like or don't like?

Thanks.

Lucius,

I was sitting in your place about 2 years ago when my speakers died. I too wanted a decent set of 2.1 speakers and did a lot of research. Consensus at the time for a set of 2.1 speakers for less than $40 was either Creative or Logitech. Both of the choices that I considered at the time are no longer manufactured and have been replaced by newer models.

I would look at the Logitech X-230 2.1 speakers or the Creative Inspire T3000 2.1 speakers.

Good Luck!

I'd get the Logitech speakers without any delay. They are simply great speakers for the money. Hell, they sound better than speakers costing close to $100...

I have a set of these (Cambridge Soundworks PC Works) in my bedroom and they're outstanding for the price. I mount the tiny satellites on my wall and they're able to fill the room with sound at a decent volume without distortion. I bought my mother a set for her birthday and she likes them as well. Shipping is free.
