What are some interesting biographies you've read, preferably of people in the science/tech fields, past and present.

bump. Anyone? Last time I asked for book recommendations I got some very good responses from the ATOT book readers. Or maybe people don't read as many biographies as I thought? :hmm:

there's supposedly a rather awesome new biography of Oppenheimer out there (published ~2 years ago, I think?)

I haven't read it, though.

Read Chuck Yeager's in high school. Sort of sciency in that it goes into some of the technical obstacles to breaking the sound barrier the first time. That guy was fearless! How many people would have the stones to strap themselves to the top of a jet engine and get dropped off the bottom of another plane?

That was an autobiography. A great read though for sure and one I have read myself.
