Recommend me an accessory to hookup my iPod to my car

Argo

My dealer can add built in ipod port into the car but it costs $300 and only volume controls on the steering wheel would work (no prev/next), also no song title on the radio display AFAIK.

I got the SO the harmon karden iTrip. about 200 bucks and it is fully integrated with its own control and display.

very slick.

You could do something similar yourself for ~$100 and an hour of your time. Just hit the skip/back buttons on the iPod itself. It seems silly to me to spend $300 to hook up a $300 device to your car.

The Roadtrip: it uses an FM transmitter for any station you choose, the sound then comes in through the car speakers. You still have to use the ipod controls to change songs and fastforward, but it's $75 vs. $300 for an integrated solution. Plus, when you change cars, you don't have to have the system reinstalled in the new car.

If he has a tape deck in his car, the better option would be one of those tape adapters as the quality is supposed to be much better than the iTrip.

Of course, integrated would be sweet.

I personally prefer just using a CD/MP3 player and burning CDs since they're so cheap for the amount of money being quoted here.

Get a head unit with RCA in or hack one together. Get an iPod dock. Get an 1/8'' minijack to RCA male cable. You could also hack yourself an ipod weird connector to RCA cable.

Once you have the cable and/or dock, plug in. Buy a wireless remote and tape to steering wheel, if you like.

A hammer so you can smash it into pieces... Naw kidding here... hmmies I wouldn't know anyways. Take the hammer...
