Intel 2500K stock
4Gb of memory
Corsair HX650
1920x1200 res. (play on high but don't mind turning off AA/AF)
Ordering from newegg.ca unless another site has it cheaper

Should I wait for 7000 series? Anything more powerful than 6950 coming? I was eyeing the 6950 and 560 Ti. I wouldn't mind a bit cheaper though. I currently have a GTX 260 and I think it's dying. Fan is making a noise now and it goes up to 94C in Dead Space 2. Idles at 55 or so. Never used to be like that. Anyways, opinions/comments. Thanks.

94 C in Dead Space 2? please don't attempt to play any demanding games if its heating up that bad in that game. have you cleaned it out lately? and do you a have warranty left on it?

anyway, yeah a 6950 or 560 will get the job done and you certainly have a rig that can push any gpu. you might even look for some deals on the gtx570.

No it's a BFG and we all know what happened to them. I had a 8800 GTS that died and they sent me a GTX 260 but that was more than two years ago. It heats up in pretty much anything, it's pretty much finished.

570 is a bit expensive. Was hoping under 300 with taxes etc.

well there have been under $300 deals on the 570 at times. if you cant find any then I would probably get a gtx560 if you have been happy using Nvidia. it looks like you have not had good luck with them from a hardware standpoint though, lol.

I know I keep saying this, but for me, personally, I would take a pair of GTX 460s in SLI over a single GTX 560. $220 is overpriced considering I've been seeing the GTX 460s go for $88AR lately.

If you only have a single PCI-E slot or are uncomfortable with SLI, I would lean toward the 6950 or even the GTX 570.

The vanilla (non-Ti) GTX 560 comes out in one week on May 15th or so.

I would wait for that to see how it performs and if it shakes up prices around the $200 mark.

Oh yea I forgot about that card, release date is May 17th. It might shake some prices around. See if your gtx260 will hold out till then.

the non Ti version will not be much faster than the gtx460 which is not a massive jump over the gtx260 as it is. might as well get the Ti version now. I doubt prices will change enough plus there are already a couple of good deals now.

A gtx460 at 800 clocks (gtx560 non ti should be at 800+) is very close to a 6870's performance. I would say thats a nice little upgrade. More importantly it should drop some prices of the 6850/6870 , and gtx460 cards. Thats if it come in at under 200$ upon release.

It's only a week away ,it would not hurt to wait a bit.

A gtx560 non ti @ 800 core, should be at least as fast as a 5850 which is 50% faster than a gtx260 in direct x 10 games. You can't compare a gtx260 vs a direct x 11 card, in direct x 11 games.

the 560 will be overpriced for its performance platform, don't bother waiting for it. 6950 is what you're looking for.

NCIX has the Zotac 560 for $199.99 after $40 MIR and the 560 OC for $204.99 after MIR and I think a $10 shipping promo, or you can do in-store pick-up if you live in Vancouver or the GTA area (Markham store). I just ordered one, upgrading from a GTX 280. Was going to go the 570 route but after a bunch of research realized I would be pretty CPU limited on my old quad core, came down to $200 for the 560 or $300 for the 570 after MIR, was not worth 50% more money for way less than 50% more performance.

If you are lucky the 560 can hit good overclock (900-950 on core, some are lucky and getting 1000) which brings it very close to the 570 in performance. The downside of the 560 (from what I've read) is overclocking makes it consume huge amounts of power and generate lots of heat.

560: http://ncix.com/products/?sku=58453&...c&promoid=1323

560 OC: http://ncix.com/products/?sku=58454&...ufacture=Zotac

The difference between the two is the OC has a 3% bump to GPU clock and 0.01% bump to RAM, tiny overclock in other words, and lacks Displayport, the card is also longer than the non-OC and has the PCI-e plugs on the end versus the side for the vanilla model. The OC does have three 6mm heatpipes versus two 8mm heatpipes on the vanilla. First time in 5 or 6 years that I am not using an eVGA card, but this price is a great deal, looked briefly at ATI but still not liking the look of their drivers, more comfortable with Nvidia, although there is a 6950 1GB at NCIX for $240, the 2GB models are $300 so same price as the 570.

Well, there's the result of me spending most of the day reading video card reviews and forum posts, lol.

So what's that chart look like at the OP's resolution of 1920 x 1200 instead of using that low res chart?

Well I guess they don't include the gtx260 in the 1080p chart because its totally unplayable. If they did i would have posted it. I would think the same 50% gap would apply.
