Ok, I know this goes against the grain of the the build your own system mantra of this forum and myself as well but because of a $200 off sale and 0 percent financing for 12 months, I've decided I'm going to get a Dell XPS410 (E6420 system). The only thing I don't like is their video card choices. It comes stock with a 256MB nVidia Geforce 7300LE TurboCache which I know isn't a real video card at all and the only reasonable choice for upgrade is a 256MB nVidia GeForce 8600 GTS for $200. I haven't read glowing reviews on the 8600 series and feel this is not a good value. If you disagree let me know.
So I would like to order a approximately $150 PCIex16 video card from Newegg at the same time I order this system (with the stock 7300LE) which will probably be tomorrow or Friday night. I am looking for recommendations, particularly if any readers have experience installing video cards in an XPS410 in case there may be any space or other physical limitations that may prevent the installation of some cards. Also the system only comes with a 375W supply so power consumption may be a limitation but they must think it's adequate to power the 8600 GTS. Thanks for any suggestions.
