a HD 7870 is the best bang for your buck of had under $200

HIS IceQ Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 $219.99 AR

New math? (see bold above)

7850 is truly priced under $200 and can overclock to stock 7870 speeds, and a little beyond that if you have a very good card.

Whats the best card available right now for $200 or less? Just for gaming

Can you tell us about your system and what resolution you're playing at, games, etc. 7870 is a great card if you can expand your budget a little. 7850 is a really good deal too. If you wait around a few weeks I would be willing to bet you'll see some christmas deals.

Just putting this out there as an option, but it appears that a GTX 660 will also hold its own against the 7850/7870. Not as overclockable, though. It really comes down to what deals pop up in the near future. In the past few weeks, the 7850 has gone as low as ~$150AR, the GTX 660 for ~$165AR, and I think the 7870 was in the ~$180AR range.

I'm looking at all three of the above cards before xmas, and will likely pull the trigger on whichever of the 3 hits one of those targets first. From a pure performance basis, the cards appear to rank 7850 < gtx 660 <= 7850 OC <= 7870 < 7870 OC.

The only one consistently under $200 without MIR shenanigans and watching and waiting for who knows how long for the price to drop is the HD 7850 2GB. HD 7870s are going for $240+ right now. GTX 660s are $220+.

I don't know why everyone quotes a mail in rebate when the money has to be paid up front and you won't get your rebate for several months at least. Plus they're more often than not a "rebate card" instead of a check you can deposit (to help pay off the credit card bill for the goods you bought that came with the rebate). Really, when quoting prices to people in forums its not worth mentioning unless its a damn big rebate.

Except 7870s dip below $200..

If you want to make the proposition that 7870s may dip below $200 that is fine, but you are missing the point of my post. Feel free to reread it. I just thought the other guy's post was too ironic to not comment on.
