Recommend me a TV with decent speakers and reasonable WAF

I'm no audiophile, but I'm ready for an upgrade from my cheapo TV's cheapo speakers. I've been using the TV I scored just before BF 2006. (Element FLX-3202, go home depot!). It was a hell of a deal, but I'm ready to move on.

I don't want a lecture about how a TV needs a proper surround sound system- that's been vetoed. I gave thought to a soundbar; they're all better sounding than I need, but it's close enough to being vetoed that I don't want to bother. So I'm looking for a TV that's got reasonable speakers built in.

My local apple store is crowded, but from my brief time there, the speakers they put into their 27" cinema display are good enough for me. Maybe it's because I was a couple feet away, I don't know.

I'm hesitant to go into my local best buy. I'd feel like a tool going in there to audition a TV only to order one from Amazon or Newegg. Besides, IIRC, it's damn near impossible to fairly audition a TV there anyway.

Bluetooth remotes and audio would be a plus. The best lead I've found is a couple of Vizios recommended by Ross Ridge in another thread of mine.

I don't think any TV (besides that Mitsu) has good speakers, but any decent name brand should be better than what you have now.

I also don't know of any TVs that transmit or receive BT audio, but there are a few (top-end Vizios and the tip-top Samsung LCDs) that have BT remotes.

Due to the larger and deeper cabinets of DLP TVs I would think they'll have better sound than all these new thin LCDs and plasmas. So if you don't mind the deeper cabinets and the need to replace the bulb every few years then you take a look at DLP sets.

My personal experience has been that Sony LCD's tend to have better sound than most other brands. So much to the point that I've actually bought their TV's simply because of the better sound.

I do like the sound out of my parent's sony. its a bravia xbr something something from like 2006. Was top of the line back then. I've always been amazed how good it sounds for just a tv. Beats my panny out of the water as well as a samsung i had in my room when i traveled for work (c600 or something....)

Of course dedicated speakers would sound best but i've been impressed with sony for built in speakers

False. While they sound better than a comparable LCD, it's still not "good".
