I am at a loss right now.
Several of my dvds have minor smudges, scratches etc. Nothing major or deep. They play PERFECTLY in my computer's dvd drive. But for whatever reason, they skip/stutter in my dvd player for my tv.
I tried a new player, a $100 dollar samsung (wal-mart special version), with progressive scan, and it had the same problem. To top it off though, some of my dvds I burned myself wouldn't work in it.
So I returned that one, and I am back to using the old memorex (also a wal-mart special).
So if anyone knows of a moderately priced, between 30-100 dollars for a good stand alone dvd player, that wont stutter to hell and back on some smudges please let me know.
