I want a cheap sound card so I can listen to my Winamp playlist (that consists of ~50 songs at most) and to hear the sounds in games.. So, nothing expensive with any extra benefits and stuff, just some cheapo soundcard so I can have sound on my computer.

Soundblaster pci 512 aint bad, $20-30. Or one of those Phillips acoustic edge cards i heard was pretty good.

Any PCI full duplex soundcard would do for your case. The SB 512 is as good a recommendation as any in its price range. There are, however, even cheaper solutions using Yamaha/Cirrus Logic/Trident/S3 audio chipsets.

SB Vibra will just do for $17. for around $20 you can get Winfast 6X which is very nice, or for just $10 you can get Yamaha 734 PCI which i'm using now

If your going to spend $20 you might as well kick in an extra $12 and get the fortissimo II at newegg for $32. IMO well worth the extra money, however if you find a basic soundcard for like $10, go for it.

screw creative's low end offerings.

Pick up any card based on the c-media 8738 chipset and you should be fine. A friend picked up a $10 card that works great for the basics.

If you care to get better sound quality, the fortII could be an option.

Any SoundBlaster soundcard will do. SB32, 128, or 512 is cheap and good enough for music. Personally, I don't recognize the difference (even with SB16 ISA) when I'm listening to my MP3 music. I heard about troubles other ppl had with SB Live! (I had one problem with it before)

A Fortissimo II might do the trick and I think it's pretty inexpensive right now and you don't have to mess with the Creative Labs headaches a bunch of people experience. It's supposed to be a decent performer too, and'll add EAX, etc etc for your games.
