I currently have an old Linksys wireless router model BEFW11S4 v2 and it has always given me problems as a HOST in various online games (UT2K4, Nascar Racing season 2003, TrackMania Nations, ect ect ect)

It always barks at me with not able to properly forward ports, telling me i am on a private network and therefor have a NAT issue, you name it.

I am done with this router!

My question is this: Are there any new routers out there that will help me simplify these issues ive been having for so long? Something that will be a bit more user friendly in helping me with these NAT problems and forward ports properly when i insert the values that i know are correct and should work?

I realize i am not a networking savvy guru, tho i know somewhat how to operate a basic wireless network set ups. Are there any routers out there that are user friendly, have recent firmware updates and good support so i can finally HOST various online games without a hitch?

thx for the advice in advance!

DLink Gamer DGL-4300

The best out there.. I have this, my bro has this and my father has this... all have seen better and more stable connections with games like BF2. I too had a linksys and had nothing but issues when hosting games or connecting to games which were very sensitive (C&C Generals). In addition, the LinkSys routers have absolutely not features compared to the DLink... At least I found this out when I purchased a DLink being a LinkSys customer 3 routers later.

Features such as
Better Logging of activity. I can now see when something is being blocked by the router
Game Fuel. Manages QoS when using games and properly packages and prioritize the packagets sent to the cable/DSL modem. Less TCP Jitter = more stable and consistent connection
Better handling of port filtering profiles
Better handling of ACL (Access Control List)

I can go on and on.. its a pretty $$$ but worth it!

Also wanted to add that the interface is all medu driven with great help for each of the screens and all of the fields.

and lastly... The darn admin screens are 3 times faster then the LinkSys..
Good Luck

from the sounds of it, the Dlink you recommended is quite decent. I was looking on newegg and they have it here for $125 bucks.

Thx for the advice, im gonna order it asap... sounds like just the kind of router i need!
