I have a generic GeForce FX5200. Loaded my computer on a fresh install with the most recent drivers..and it still freeezes, just using basic office applications crash..I have a flat panel (DVI) and an older analog model monitor. The freezes cause vertical lines up and down both screens..sometimes the flat panel will shut off for 20 seconds and then come back on. I don't play games. Is there a good graphics card I can get for under $100 (preferabbly under $60?) that will be STABLE?

since you won't be doing gaming, get a matrox. they're quite sexy for multiple monitors, or you could always get a gf4 ti 4200/4600 if you ever want to play a game later in life. you sure it's your video card causing the problem though?

*groan*.

A GeForce4 would be at LEAST twice as fast as that FX5200 in any 3D game. Newer != better (necessarily). More RAM != better (once you're above a certain minimum amount).

In any case, it sounds like maybe you just got a bad card, or are having driver problems. Maybe give Driver Cleaner a shot? I haven't heard of anything like this, even with a cheap FX5200.
