Recommend me a nice laptop that's under 14"

I am on my third year in college and I decided to buy a laptop so I can stop scribbling notes on my paper notebooks. Forgive me but this is my first time buying a laptop and I've dealt with desktop computers most of my life. I would like to have a laptop that meets my requirements:

1. Must be exactly or under 14" widescreen.

2. Video card capable of running movies encoded in h.264 format or any higher quality format and run DVD's movies without ghosting or anything. I use Photoshop and other media programs. (I don't plan on any serious gaming tho... but I will occasionally play emulators such as PSU or Snes.)

3. A solid Wi-Fi connection that won't discconect me when I am in lectures or within the range of Wi-Fi signal. (This is a must since I d/l important documents from my work.)

4. Noise - I would like a quiet laptop when its loaded with programs running. I don't wanna disturb the whole class with my laptop screeching. (programs i occassionaly use - AIM, Microsoft word/excel, photoshop, and media players that play movies.)

5. Looks - I've seen Dell e1405 and Macbook. They're nice. But i'm sure there are better that I've never heard of.

6. If possible, I would like to run a laptop with Win XP/Vista as an OS.

There are many more to list but that pretty much sums up the things that I really, really need for a laptop. Price do matter but for now I am deciding. Please recommend me any that meets my expectations. Help a lost, fellow student out!

P.S. I've heard of this Duo Core and AMD Turion X2. Is there any difference? Should I wait for Turion X2? Please enlighten me. Thanks.
