Like the summery says I have a Linksys wrt-350n wirelss-n gigabit router when it work its freaking awsome, but over the past year its gotten to the point where I want to pull an office space on it and destroy the damn thing into a million peices. I'v done everything that I can think of to fix it even talking to linsys and they refuse to help me any more. I need a router that has gigabit capabilites, 4 ports for wired connections should be fine, and wireless capabilites all the way up to wireless n. The biggest problem I'm having at the moment is that if I leave one of my wired computer thats connected to the router on over night downloading something off the internet or some where. After a few hours the router just shuts down completely. It will keep downloading on that one machine but nothing else will work. I can't access the web utility on any machine including my laptop. I can't access the internet on any machine or game console connected to the network. Absolutly nothing will work the only way of fixing it is to completely, and I mean completely disconnect every wire going to and fromt he router and reconnect everything back up. And after having to do this 3 times in less than a week, and ontop of all that yesterday the router just to randomly decides to competely reset itself to the default settings magicaly on its own. So like I said I'm tired of this router, would like a new one similar to this one, and want something that works like its supose to with out me babysitting this one.

Thanks
Gary

If your router is compatible, you can try installing DD-WRT on it to see if that solves some of the issues your having.

If you want gigabit, buy a cheap gigabit switch and hook your gigabit computers up to the switch.

If it's a version 1 (Serial number starts with CNQ), put DDWRT on it, you'll love it.

ok call me a stupid noob but I was looking around on the dd-wrt website and I"m not sure if this is correct or not. I went to their download page went into the following directories

v24 sp1>consumer>linksys>wrt350n

and scrolled down until i found the following file dd-wrt.v24_mini_wrt350n.bin Now I'v updated by fireware before and from linksys the new firmware was in a .bin file but it was like 6 mb and this is only 2.8 mb. So my question is should I download dd-wrt.v24_mini_wrt350n.bin or the dd-wrt.v24_mega_generic.bin firmware. I just wanna make sure I go the corect firmware would hate to brick my router and then turely need to go out and buy a new one.

Go to the WRT350N section and download the V24 Mini first, then go into the web based management page, click the upgrade firmware and go to the mini.bin file first. After it's upgraded, then download the V24 standard.bin file from the WRT350N section and then upgrade to that one if you wish.
