Recommend me a new radio

So my old radio (a aiwa that the previous owner installed) stopped working. I am looking to replace it with something cheap and basic.

I usually use the radio on the drive to/from work (around 40 miles each way), so my only concern is something that gets decent reception. As it is now, most of the stations where I live don't reach out to where I work, and I simply listen to different stations near my work area.
I don't own any mp3 players or ipods, so I don't need built in docking stations. I generally don't listen to cd's either, but since most radios seem to come with them I figure it's worth getting a receiver with a cd player.
I don't listen to tapes either (although I haven't seen any receivers with tapedecks).

I've been at quite a loss as to what to get, since I've found a ton of radios and I don't really know which ones are "better". Kenwood and Pioneer seem to be more popular, but would I really notice a difference between their models and a similar model (in terms of wattage) player from a different manufacturer?

Looking around has led me to sonicelectronix. It seems like any of the first few models would fit my needs, but then again I know jack squat about car radios.

Finally, I was originally looking to spend no more than $50, but since that seems unlikely, I'm willing to go up to $70, maybe $80.
What do you fellas suggest?

We put a cheap $80 Sony deck in my sister's car and it works fine. For what you're doing with it, I doubt you'll notice much of a difference between brands/models/etc. I am partial to Pioneer..Alpine & Clarion have good stuff too.

Are you sure you'll never want to listen to CD's or MP3's later down the road? I hook up an 8GB Flash Drive to my deck and it's great. Do you want HD or Satellite radio?

Well the cd seems to be a given, since pretty much all the models I've seen can play them. As for the mp3s....I probably would if I ever got a mp3 player but I don't see that happening in the near future. Unless...would they also play mp3 files from a flash drive?

Since brand doesn't seem to matter much I was considering either...
eclipse
-$75, free shipping
Dual
-$75 (including $15 estimated shipping)
Kenwood
-$85 (including $15 estimated shipping)

The eclipse looks to be a better deal since it has mp3 and wma playback, but it doesn't look like it has a detachable faceplate (although, I never detached my old faceplate).
Besides that, they seem pretty similar to me (besides some wattage differences).

The site says the eclipse is on clearance and normally costs ~200, so I would lean towards the eclipse based on that, but I'd like second opinions.

There are some that have USB and line in for MP3 players or USB drives. Have you thought about any of that?

I'm pretty sure Dual is basically the WalMart brand equivalent - there's a Pioneer DEH-P5000UB refurb on eBay for $110.30 shipped..

do some ebay searches for pyle and pyramid HUs you can easily get one new for around your original budget

So zerocool and evident have convinced me that it's worthwhile to get something that plays from flash drives. I saw the recommended kenwood and am a bit confused as to where it says it plays from flash drives?
Also, are there any other suggestions? If not I'll probably look around and see what the cheapest I can get the kenwood for, although so far it seems like crutchfield will be a good deal when accounting for free shipping and installation gear.

I think you might want something that can read files off of USB devices.
Nothing beats sticking a 2-4GB flashdrive in and having hours of music.

check out the reviews for the link i sent. i think it's their lowest end unit that will play from a usb drive.

there is a comparable pioneer at the same pricepoint of that kenwood i sent. check out crutchfield's site. it has a great layout, even if the prices are at full MSRP. good to use for researching the products.

Ok, final question. I will be purchasing the kenwood you recommended, but I'm not set on where to buy it.

Crutchfield has a free mounting kit and wiring harness included, as well as custom installation instructions.
However, I can get it through an amazon dealer for $105 (instead of $140). While that's a significant difference, I haven't switched out a car radio and the previous owner did a ramshackle job (for example, the wires aren't crimped, but rather wrapped up in electrical tape).
While I want to save money, I also want to keep the swap simple.
I'm willing to spend the extra money at crutchfield if you guys think the wiring harness and custom instructions will come in handy.
