Another option is to select multiple tabs for your home page. I know firefox can do this...just go to the pages you go to most and have them loaded up in your tabs. Then go to the homepage selection buttons and hit the "Use Current Pages" button.

I used to use about:blank. These days I use about:newtab and customise the site shortcuts being shown (Pale Moon).

Been using Bing since it was Live.com

Bonus: sign up for the rewards program, click on the hover links and a couple news links on the bottom every morning, and you'll get yourself a gift card or something every month. :D

As for search results, I have been using it regularly for years. Probably less than a handful of times at this point where I might doublecheck a search on Google. Plus I always feel violated when I visit Google. ;) Of course, people will complain they don't get the same results but that is because it would take time for a new search engine to "learn" you. Only way to get impartial results would be using something like Duck Duck Go -- escape your filter bubble.

Plus, let's be honest, I like the purty pictures on Bing every day.

People actually use home pages?

I use it to spawn a new tab, and I use DDG cause it's light, and odds are good I want to search for something when I spawn a new tab. I've gotten away from that a bit after setting the Firefox searchbox to search in a new tab instead of current, so it spawns a new tab for me.

I want my page to open fast. I get new feeds in Thundrbird, and have weather in my statusbar. I don't need some trash autoselected for the lowest common denominator wasting bandwidth and time when I open my home page.

That's what I use. Typically if I open my browser I either want to search something or go to a specific bookmark, so it works for me.

LOL. Mine was Altavista for I don't know how long. Since then it's been Google.

Granted now it's set to last tabs...

Why have a search engine as your home page? Just use the address bar.

Hah. My wife asks me this all the time. It's just force of habit. I can't get myself to use the search bar.
