Welp, I want to get into a new series sense most of the books I'm reading I either finished the series or waiting for new books to come out. I'm fairly new to the whole reading books scene so my knowledge of good books is pretty limited. I don't know what happened to me little over a year ago but I just devour books when I can.

This is what I have been reading lately:

I just finished the Night Angel Trilogy, great books.
Currently reading the newest Star Wars story arc "Fate of the Jedi"
Finished the Aragon books up to the latest one.

I recently borrowed Angels & Demons on audiobook for me to listen while at work. So I may read/hear that book next.

Any recommendation? I like Sci/Fantasy/Spy/War books.

Not a Fan of horror, drama, etc. I have a pretty open mind but if something isn't blowing up, getting shot at or fighting in some crazy sword fight chances are I will lose interest.

Thanks

I always liked the Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. After about the 5th or 6th book (cant remember since it has been awhile) he starts getting really wordy...

A Song of Ice and Fire series if you haven't read it already.

I'm reading the Ender series (starts with Ender's game) and enjoying it.

Hyperion by Dan Simmons

I'm reading Snow Crash right now. Only on page 40 but it is quite funny.

The Song of Ice and Fire series is excellent, but you'll just get pissed afterwards because it's probably never going to be finished.

Hyperion is an amazing book too, but not as action-oriented as what you seem to be looking for.

One you might want to check out is Armor by John Steakly(sp?).

Based on his description of his preferences, Iain Banks is not a good recommendation. I haven't read most of the others you list, except Snow Crash, which is fun but also possibly too esoteric for him.

Try the Honor Harrigton series by David Weber, good military space opera. For fantasy, try the Belgariad (David Eddings).

I really enjoyed the first book in this series. I'm reading the second book now. The first book is very fast paced the 2nd seems not as much. The main character is a girl, and sometimes her inner monologue might be a bit boring for a guy.

Seconding Ice and Fire series. A Game of Thrones, then A Clash of Kings, then A Storm of Swords, then A Feast for Crows.

Malazan is also good and very complicated with all the different species and locations that it throws at you. It probably took me until like the third book before I'd know what he'd be talking about without having to flip back, google or wiki something. I still do, but more story related now.

The Black Company series is also good.

There needs to be a Pandora for books.

Not to stream books, but to let you enter in what you like and then rank it and then have other suggestions made for you.

I wouldn't recommend the Dark Tower series. The first book stunk but it was Stephen King's first attempt at a epic novel. The rest of the books are formulaic, there's an issue, find out who the bad guys are, fight the bad guys, move onto next scenario. I read them all because I was "pot committed" as you would say in Texas Holdem.

I just picked up two books last week: "The Stand" and "On the Road". Reading the second one right now... pretty damn good.
