Also if anyone could aware me on the current state of display tech that would be great too e.g why are 144hz monitors a big deal? Does freesync do away with the need for the refresh rate and monitor hz to be in sync? From my understanding of the wiki page it seems that is the case...
I dont know anything about monitors anymore and im looking to buy a new one. I currently have a 5 year old viewsonic vx2260wm that has started showing vertical lines, they are becoming more and more prominent so I guess its on its last legs.
What should I be looking for in a new 1080p monitor? I will use it for gaming and software dev work. Any suggestions as to which brands/models offer the best bang for buck?
