I'm looking for something that prints and scans fast. I'd like to go with a sheet-fed scanner because they're usually the fastest.

I just need something to easily print and scan things like rebates and stuff.

My dad has a Brothers MFC8500, that thing rocks!

Anyone have a recommendation for a good one in the $100-$150 price range?

The Peripherals section will get you more attention.

EDIT:
I see it got moved, good.

Well then my recommendation is one of the HP 3300's. But that doesnt fit any of your descriptions unless you somehow manage to get one dirt cheap.

Staples has Brother® Refurbished MFC-7220 Laser Sheet-fed All-in-One for $99.99 AR. Customer reviews at Amazon are good.

Whatever you buy, make sure you research the cost of consumables. Many Brother models have require separate drum and toner kits. If you do lots of printing, you may well find that other manufacturers are cheaper to own long-term.

Hmm... Let's be clear, do you need it for the copier function? I would get a flat bed, just for the flexibility. My old HP MFC (inkjet though) had both flatbed and sheet feet, the best of both worlds.

Get a flat bed with a feeder as well - trust me, you won't regret it.

I print alot! So after 9 months I have already reached the point where I have saved enough in consumables to pay for my latest printer.

It is pricy, but I got the MFC-8860DN for like $400. But after having a network printer I could never go back. It has the sheet feed and the flatbed. I had to upgrade to this after getting a cheap konical minolta where the consumables were just to expensive. I do have to buy seperate toner and drums, but the I need one drum for every 4 toners, so it isn't to bad. It was actually more expensive to go with the HP that has drum/toner combination, they basically force you to upgrade the drum every time with the toner.

I have a MFC-8820D and it is an excellent, heavy duty printer. You can usually find great deals on refurbished higher end Brother machines at Staples.

Here is an excellent Brother 8640D, for $200 after rebate:

I believe the deals are sorted by regional availability, so best bet would be to go to staples.com and search for "brother". My cousin bought a refurbed unit for her office and she is happy with it. Refurbs from Staples usually don't come with USB cables. Everything else is usually included.
