Recommend me a hassle-free quiet case fan!

Hey guys,

I think this topic has been beaten to death (maybe not?) but my cursory quick search revealed little and so I dare ask this question.

I need about three or four case fans to be placed in two computers. I am cutting down on noise in each one and I have deemed that the el cheapo no name case fans that came with my Cheiftec (Antec 1080 clones) cases were too loud. What hassle-free (meaning that I don't have to go attaching "tails") fans are there that are readily available and about $10 each? Recommend away!

heatsinkfactory will sell you the 80mm panaflo low's with either a 3pin or 4pin tail (all you would have to do is plug it in!) for $9

or

svc for the 80mm NMB with a 3pin connector for $2.50/ea

In your Antecs, the NMB fans from SVC will work extremely well. Depending on what's in the box, you may only need the 2 exhausts, or add 2 intakes as necessary. Virtually silent. The Panaflos are also excellent fans, particularly when you can't use as many as in the Antecs. They're stronger and noisier, but still quiet in comparison to what you have now...

I can vouch for NMB
they're really quiet, last a very long time
and their typically pretty cheap too
I have seen a lot of Dell's equipped with NMB fans, their good

panaflos are great too, though typically a bit more expensive

pabst make real quiet fans too, but they are hard to find (and expensive); they're from germany

just save yourself the trouble of getting those vantec stealths

I was just about to get these... any reason not to? High failure rate? Overrated?

I'd recommend the nmb's for a value purchase, but the panaflo's are worth what they cost IMHO.
There's a smoother overall sound to the noise compared to the nmb. But most people won't hear them at all

Yes, it has been beaten to death The NMBs are nice, but a word of caution...they push VERY LITTLE air. Barely as in...you can hardly feel it with your hand. My suggestion....take whatever 80mm fan you have laying around and 7 volt it. Actually, though I don't like SVC....their "SVC" brand fans are decently quiet and push a lot more air than the NMBs. Worth checking out at a measly 2.50 a piece. My case fans are as follows:

80mm NMB
92mm Antec (7 volted)
120mm Antec (7 volted)

Teh 120mm especially pushes a lot of air, and is quiet enough that I can't hear it outside of my case.

Good choice going with the NMBs. I have several of these and they're great. Blows more hot air than The Enquirer.
