I'm looking to get my girlfriend a GPS for Christmas. She doesn't live anywhere near a large city to need traffic updates, but she does need the ability to input based on latitude longitude coordinates. Anyone have any suggestion that I should be looking into?

Big fan of the garmin GPS units. They were the best of the 8 or so that I have used (2 Magellan's, 2 tom toms, 3 garmins and, god help me, 1 mio). The 350 is, IMO, the best bang for your buck

There is only one Global Positioning System. You're welcome to try inventing another one though. Competition is good!

That's not true... The Russians and Europeans have their own GPS system.

I'm looking forward to upgrading to the Agentbolt GPS system, though... I hear that it occasionally sends people looking for churches to nudie bars just for kicks :)

Get something with upload/download capability. I can't imagine the utility of a GPS w/o it. It scares me to think there are people out there driving who really use their car navigation systems as anything other than fashion statements. Do folks really hop in the car, turn the ignition, and then realize they have no idea where they are going?

I like my Mio :| - to each their own. But it's not a good unit for non-tech folk, or those who get frustrated easily.

I got a TomTom One. Does what it needs to do very well, quick to turn on and off, nice UI, map corrections, and was cheap.
