Recommend me a good book. :)

🙂

My interests include but are by no means limited to the fields of philosophy, astronomy, physics, sociology, politics, archeology, theology, et cetera. I am a fan of the science fiction as well as negative utopian genres of fiction, but am open to anything new. Should have lots of time to pass at work tonight. Thanks!

Band of Brothers, by Stephen E. Ambrose... if you saw the series it's still good 🙂

If not that... try some William Gibson books if you haven't already.

Herman Hesse.
Specifically Steppenwolf.

J.D. Salinger
Please read Nine Stories BEFORE catcher

J. Krishnamurti
Freedom From the Known

~~edit
unfortunately Steppenwolf is not online, but Siddhartha is

Entering Space - Robert Zubrin
Atlas Shrugged - Ayn Rand
The Elegant Universe - Brian Greene
The Stand - Stephen King

This reminds me that I have a book I ordered that was supposed to be here like a month ago (Space Elevator Book).

Ayn Rand - Anthem
Robert Pirsig - Zen And the Art of Motorcyle Maintenance
Aldous Huxley - A Brave New World

For a unique science fiction read, try David Gerrold's "War Against the Chtorr" series:

A Matter for Men
A Day for Damnation
A Rage for Revenge
A Season for Slaughter

The premise is that the Earth in the near future (say 20-30 years from now) is invaded by a very aggressive alien ecology intent upon taking over the planet for its own purposes. These novels are also extremely good at shedding light on the human condition.

Other outstanding science fiction you may never have heard of:

Glen Cook - The Dragon Never Sleeps
Jack L. Chalker - The Changewinds
Walter Jon Williams - Aristoi
Daniel Keyes Moran - Emerald Eyes / The Long Run / The Last Dancer

Read that again last night. 🙂

I've read some of these, others are new. Thanks for all of the suggestions, I'll see what I can dig up here.
