I am in a serious slump in my gaming. This wasn't a problem last quarter as I had lots of school work. But this quarter is much more laid back so far. Not interested in MMOs, I don't trust myself to effectively balance my time with a never ending game like WoW.

Games I loved:
Mass effect series
Dragon Age
The Witcher 2
Neverwinter Nights 2
Old Need For Speed series
Counter Strike
Diablo 2

Skyrim / oblivion

Orcs must die (very fun indie fps/tower defense game! I like think on your feet on nightmare mode)

Dead Space series (great horror action)

Spore 😛

I've been playing dungeons of dredmor too much... It's a roguelike/nethack like game. I don't even think it's that good of a game, but I'm addicted to it.

I just played a game of Alpha Centauri the past few days. It's great to recall how engrossing and addicting a good game of AC is.

I played on level 5 as Lal (for some reason I've never played him much) with a random huge map. My starting location was a thin land mass with The Hive on some islands below me. Before long we were duking it out in a protracted war that spanned naval, air, choppers, and tanks. All the while I had to delicately balance keeping the peace with that whore Deidra to the north of me, since I couldn't afford a two front conflict. And man, was she toying with me, building sea bases closer and closer to my continent. I made contact with Morgan, who was on her weak side, and kept feeding him tech and money to keep her honest.

And then Miriam showed up with transports, and all hell really broke loose.

What a great fricking game, if you have the time to really get into it.

AC Brotherhood is gorgeous with a good story, so is crysis 2, Total War Shogun 2, Dead Space 2, Deus Ex 2, witcher 2 and Rage.

Gotta agree with those who say Skyrim. But it will suck up your time.

Also might recommend playing some of the PWs that NWN2 has. i spent some time there last year and it will really satisfy if you pick the right server. Particularly if you liked that game to begin with. Even just playing modules with another player(s) can really make all the difference in the world. And some of the PWs are amazing.

Besides that, "Kingdom of Amalur: Reconing" is coming out early February and might be good.

Or you could do what I am doing with my spare (ha, what a joke) time and re-play a classic like IceWind Dale. Or Diablo 2 in anticipation of 3 coming out sometime this decade.

Deus Ex or Skyrim are obvious answers.

League of Legends is fun. SWTOR, don't have to play it like an MMO, pretty fun story lines for the most part.

> King's Bounty: The Legend + Armored Princess and never look back.
> Titan Quest

Both good choices, along with Torchlight.

Diablo-with-guns Borderlands was a lot of fun for me and I never even got around to co-op.

Have you played the original 2 Star Wars KotOR games (not the MMO)? They were both good even though KotOR 2 falls apart at the end. Bioware and Obsidian RPG goodness.

torchlight / titan quest seem like they'll be within your tastes. conveniently, titan quest gold is on sale on steam today for $5.

also i recommend bastion, because it's awesome <3
