Recommend me a FPS for PC

I plan on buying a GTX 285 within the next few weeks to take the plunge into pc gaming. I'm looking for something in the same vein as COD Modern Warfare (can' get enough of it for 360 🙂 ).

Suggestions?
 
Well there is Call of Duty: World at War on the PC. Unreal Tournament III is only $12 on Steam for 2 more days, though that's a big difference in gameplay I imagine.

The Orange Box is a lot of fun, too.
 
Since Orange Box and Left 4 Dead were recommended, I might as well jump in with Counter-Strike: Source.
If you like Battle Field type games, try Enemy Territory: Quake Wars and Frontlines Fuel of War.
Crysis of course. Fallout 3 and Oblivion also come to mind.
 
These are my favorites, and my recommendation is based on the single player experience. I tend to like the straight up shooters without much running around doing tasks. This list is not in any order as I liked them all and couldn't pick a favorite.

Half Life Series
F.E.A.R. Series
Crysis Series
Call of Duty 4 and 5
Bioshock (not really a true FPS but worth playing anyway)

I am glad you asked this question since I just finished FEAR 2 and am wondering what to get next.
 
Thanks everyone, I have a nice selection to work with now. I have an e8400 and 780i to answer the question asked earlier.
 
Battlefield 2 for multiplayer, gotta love massive amounts of real players on both sides slugging it out.

For single player, checkout STALKER SHOC, but do install the Oblivion Lost player-made mod and the latest patch.

is bf2 still popular? i miss it but wonder if i'm going to have a hard time finding close servers since my DSL sucks balls. most servers i play on are dallas based..

Yes, BF2 is still popular. It is a slow night, and there are still 9000 people playing.
 
Good thread! I'm looking for new games for the PC as well. I was playing through Crysis (pretty quickly) and on the last chapter, it hard freezes as I get to the surface of the flight-deck. There are no fixes for this problem that I am aware of, my system is patched with latest drivers; so I am looking for new games.

Presently considering Oblivion, CoD5. I already have HL2, The Orange box, and L4D. I really am looking for single player right now.
