Something that's like Sultans of Swings by Dire Straits. You know, well balanced all around and sonically excellent.

Good Choices.

Also check out Aja by Steely Dan, just about anything by The Eagles, Rumours by Fleetwood Mac, and Joshua Judges Ruth by Lyle Lovett.

So you want songs with some dude talking in a vaguely sing-song manner through the whole thing? I have nothing against Lou Reed, but I wanna stab that song in the throat.

What does Lou Reed have to do with Sultans of Swing?

You're right, I'm thinking of Walk on the Wild Side. The other talking song.

Slow down there maestro, who are you saying recognizes them as excellent musicians, your friends and half of ATOT? Don't go putting bands you really like on a pedestal just because you think they belong there. I rarely hear any of their songs on the radio, and between most of the people here and 1 kid I work with, I don't know anybody who thinks their excellent.

Yeah, I've gave them a shot and listened to some of the more touted albums, and I just don't think any of their songs are "great". Between 10,000 Days and Lateralus nothing at all tickled my fancy, some songs sounded cool but there wasn't one song that was good enough to listen all the way through. Anyway, this is just my opinion and obviously they appeal to some of you, but theres nothing wrong with not liking Tool, contrary to popular belief around here.

I believe he asked for great sounding albums. Tool's albums are sonically some of the best albums around - regardless of whether you like them or not.

I already named some albums for him. Read my post next time, their "sonicity" wasn't the issue I was addressing - regardless of whether I like them or not.

Ooops, I did breeze through your post a bit too fast - for that I apologize.

However, Tool is pretty popular amongst musicians, which normally hold other musicians to a higher standard. Also, I don't know how you don't hear them on the radio, that is my one complaint about Tool - every rock station I listen to plays them WAY too much.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand......
