Try the Book of Words series by jv jones or Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. Both those have their share of gore and sex and are pretty good books. Though Goodkind gets off on these philosophical/political rants that can get boring. I would also recomend Geomancer by Ian Irvine but only the first book in the trilogy is done so plan on waiting a long time before being able to read the whole series.
 
You have to get the Masquerade trilogy written by Robert Weinberg, published by whitewolf. One of the best trilogies i've read.
