Recommend me a decent set of 4" car speakers.

It's the only thing that fits in the doors of my car. :( I will be running them directly from the deck (Rockford Fosgate RFX 9000) without an amp. I've heard good things about MB Quarts, Infinity Kappas, and Eclipses. Any other good options? This is not a component setup and the 4's will likely be the only speakers in the car, so having a good range and decent volume is a big plus. TIA.

You can get Eclipse 4 inchers pretty cheap on ebay. I was about to get a set for my dad's truck but then came to my senses (he wouldn't care).

There aren't any. Keep the OE paper ones. You'll be better off and you won't waste hundreds of dollars trying to "improve" your sound system.

They don't have my car on there. :( I've replaced the factory speakers in it before however, and there weren't really any depth issues, I had plenty of clearance. I found a pair of MB Quarts on Ebay that boasted a 62Hz-32KHz which seems to cover lower than any of the others I've looked at so far. The model was RKC 110. Are there any respectable review sites online to get reviews on some of these speakers?

The OEM speakers were dog meat, I replaced them with a cheap pair of Kenwoods a few years ago and it made a world of difference. I am not looking to spend more than $50 bucks or so on Ebay either, so no concern there.

Any speaker can reproduce sounds throughout the frequency range. The question is, can it do it at the same amplitude everywhere.

4" speakers are fairly crappy, but if you have to you have to. I have Infinity Kappa's in my car, they sound ok.

The best way is to go in and listen to them in person. Everyone has different tastes in speakers.

If I were installing 4" in a car I would put bass blockers on to prevent the lower frequencies. I know of no speakers that can actually handle that range without blowing after 6 months.

Look at getting a sub. You can get a sub and an amp for a couple hundred bucks. That is the way you should go if you want good low/mid response.

I have 4in eclipses in the front of my saab and 4x6 in the back. Im really happy with how good it sounds for what I spent. the front pair was ~100 and the rear pair ~120.

Because these speakers are over all pretty small, think about a sub and amp.
My rockford 10 picks up nicely where the speakers fail to please.

I don't really want a sub, nothing fancy and I don't want to rattle or make noise outside of the car. Just want a little better sound inside the car without getting elaborate or attracting theives. I was looking at these:

http://www.mbquart.com/2003/en_US/products/prod_detail.asp?isArchive=true&cat=&series=reference%20series&strt=1&model=RKC+110

A lot of the places on ebay are selling them with crossovers for around $50 NIB. Anybody used these? I heard some MB Quart 4's at Car Toys and I don't know if they were this model, but they sounded better than any of the other 4's there by a long shot.

great, buy those!

But please dont turn up the bass at all. You dont need a big sub to get good bass. One ten in a sealed box will give you plenty of bass, but not enough to rattle windows or even be heard outside of your car.

I've got 4 Kenwoods in one of the cars at around $60/pair and I've also been very, very pleased with them. They really go nice and loud!
