Recommend me a CPU heatsink shorter than a Shuriken

I need a short heatsink, and I'm worried the 64 mm / 2.5 inch height of the Scythe Schuriken is too much. I'd rather have it down around 57 mm / 2.25 inches. Can anyone recommend one like this?

Oh yeah, it's for an i7-2600. The stock Intel HSF has fallen off a couple of times during shipping, and now I don't think it seats properly: when I run a couple of the cores at 100% for ~5 min, the CPU temp head up toward 80C.

Thanks (in advance) for you suggestions!

i agree that using a cpu liquid cooling system is probably better, but if you're looking for air cooling

edit: oh hah they have a freezer LP that fits the bill! 53mm height w/ fan, supports up to 100w TDP, socket 1155

are you running the scythe without a fan? or with a non stock fan? because the 64mm is just for the heatsink right?
if you replace the fan, the arctic cooling alpine 11 plus might be ok it's 70mm high with it's fan

you'll probably have to get a bit creative to replace the fan though

What case are you using?

I have a Shuriken in an Antec NSK2400 and it works beautifully. (Which does not mean that it will work for you of course, but it's a pretty small heatsink. Do you have a way of measuring exactly how much room you're working with?)

That's what I was thinking. A typical I/O shield is already 2" off the mobo.

It's one of these:
http://www.stealth.com/littlepc_501_datasheet.htm

It uses a typical microATX motherboard with a non-ATX powersupply. The one external 5.25 drive in the case protrudes rather far back above the motherboard because it currently holds a 5.25 swappable bay. I may have to remove this bay to reclaim some CPU headroom.

fralexandr: nice find on that Arctic LP11, that's exactly what I'm looking for!

I did end up ordering a Shuriken and will try it with my fingers crossed. If it doesn't work, then the LP11 seems like a sure thing.

Thx!

You can probably find an aftermarket bolt-thru kit with backplate and use it with the stock Intel heatsink.
