Thinking about a little boost for my compy. I currently have a 2500+ barton.

How do the chips compare (barton vs sempron vs athlon mobile)

is there a performance difference when they run at the same speed?

What would you recommend?

a 2500+ if OC'd is about the best you can do. Sempr0ns are T-bred-Bs. 256k cache, 333fsb.

I would say get the lowest wattage mobile barton 2500+ you can find. 512k cache, will do 2.3-2.4GHz easy in that mobo.

ok... thanks

i used to be able to get my 2500+ to 2252 but i upgraded my bios and now I cant even get it stable at 2200....

how would the 2500+ running at 2.2GHZ compare to an athlon 64 @ 2.2ghz?

i had an nf7-s and a 2500 barton (locked) @2.2, went to a mobile that did 2.6, you don't really feel the difference, finally bought a venice 3000+, in gaming a 1.8 amd64 is around a 2.5/2.6 barton, certain tasks will be faster with the higher clockspeeds but it isn't by much, overclocking the 3000+ you should be able to easily hit 2.4, think about the msi neo2 agp board and find a cheap 3000+

its not so much that it benchmarks higher, its just that the fps is a lot more constant, it never really drops significantly

Oh Hell Naw. Its something like 20% better at the same MHz rating. My other PC is a mobile barton with the same chipset you have. Other componets are very similar, same ammount of ram. The A64 is much quicker, more repsonsive. 3dm01 goes from 20kish to 24kish.
