I've got an AMD 955BE mounted on an Asus M4A79XTD mobo inside an Antec 902. I'm looking for an cooler. My requirements are (in this order) good looking (with fan attached), quiet, effective. I don't do a lot of overclocking so I'm not too fussed about it being the most effective HSF.

No set budget, but nothing ridiculous. No water cooling. Thanks :)

The Noctua NH-U12P SE2 is my choice. Great temps and pretty quiet too. It's big though and somewhat pricey. But gets the job done and then some (also includes Noctua's thermal paste which is awesome stuff). The Noctua website is really comprehensive and includes compatibility lists for essentially every major motherboard manufacturer.

Regarding looks, that's subjective. But I think it looks good.

the xigmatek dark knight is cheap, its all black with black fan white LEDS (i have one in an Amror+ case with all blue LED fans, looks good with them) its also very quiet.

Its cooling a 940BE @ 3.8ghz 1.5V 37C idle 51C load ambient temps 70-78F (florida winters....)

i would also reccomend the Thors Hammer but i see you dont want anything too massive or expensive

I recommend the cooler master hyper 212 plus, decent and cools well, you can hang another fan on it if you want later. another good choice is the Mugen 2 cooler, very capable as well.

I use the Mugen 2 with a PHII 940. I find it works very well, although its a bit of a pain to install by yourself.

i also like mugen 2 except it's a little harder to find I think they are switching to RevB so a delay in availability now.
