recommend me a configuration

i would get the macbook pro over the macbook. honestly, do whatever you can to get the additional money to get it, its so worth it.

not anymore they are identical except for a firewire port and backlit keyboard.

MacBook Pro also has an aluminum enclosure, glass covering the screen, an SD Card slot, a battery life indicator, and a better LCD Panel. I am not saying that these are not nitpicks, because they are, but don't say they are identical when they are demonstrably not.

OP. We definitely need more info about what you want to use the system for. If you would be happy with a 13" screen, then get a refurbed 2.26GHz MacBook Pro 13". High capacity battery, great screen, aluminum enclosure, firewire, and a backlit keyboard all for $999 refurbished. Not a bad deal at all if you ask me.

Whatever screen res you settle on wanting, definitely check the refurbished section. Current gen refurbs are usually marked down by about 15% I think, whereas previous gen refurbs are considerably more so. I am talking $1300 for what was a $2000 laptop.

I was just wondering what other people thought about it...good or bad, and your preferred configurations.

I am not the most computer literate person but I do enjoy watching a fair bit of movies, playing games when I can, and overall enjoying a fast, efficient computer.

thanks.
