I just heard about t-mob's marvelous easyspeak prepaid service, so I'm going to switch to that as soon as possible. (right now I have callplus)
sorry, but I just have no idea where to start looking because I've never had a gsm plan before and I now suddenly am opened to a new world of thousands of fancy phones.

anyway, now that I'll have gsm and mms and gprs and wap and all that wonderful stuff, I want to get myself a nice (but CHEAP) gsm phone.

requirements:
1. my max is $60 off ebay.
2. must be compat with gsm 1900 and have a wap browser

the most important thing to me is that it be very easy to use and *responsive* UI. mostly I'm concerned about the WAP browser since that's where I'll spend most of my time. I know the UI might be sorta subjective, but I'm sure you know what I mean by responsive. I know I'm not going to get something as fast as the MS smartphone for my budget, but I just don't want to deal with something as slow as one of those older nokia color phones. those are friggen molasses.

other than that, I'd prefer (these aren't requirements, just wishes):
a speaker that's plenty loud (my nokia 8260 is too quiet for outdoors)
color screen
an fm radio

any ideas or suggestions appreciated! :D
this is going to be so cool to have unlimited wap for $8/mo!!!!

Whatever you do don't get a Nokia 3650. I've gone through 3 of them and they all have the same problems with software. T-Mobile has been great sending me replacement phones, but good luck dealing with the retards at Nokia. They won't admit that there's a flaw with their phone. Argh! :|

edit: oops, looks like you already know to stay away from Nokia. May I suggest the Sony Ericsson T616 then?

I have a 3650 and love it :). Works perfectly for wap, and the big screen is a really big plus. Only problem is its not under $60.

heh yeah looks like 3650 is a bit too expensive

here's one I was looking at that seems good: Samsung T300 (not to be confused with sony/ericsson T300). it has a 160x160 screen!!!! now that would be nice for wap....sharp easy to read text and hi-res pics
do any of you have some experience with this phone?

i love the 3650 as well, but hes right, there are a TON of bad/defective 3650's out there, I've gotten 2 myself, but now im on my 4th (the 3rd one fell in the toilet) and it works great. I really wouldnt recommend buying this phone off ebay since there is a lot of defective ones, unless the guy will guarantee it for some amount of time. 3650 is only great when u get a great working one, and for me it took a couple phones to go through. Theres just soooo many apps for it, TV/stereo/anything remote, 3rd party browsers that work great,
and more and more, I even had a P800 before, but with all the apps there is for it and the GREAT reception it gets, its a good phone

edit: also, i would never get the T610/6, sony phones are known for having terrible reception, a $25 8290 I got off ebay had better reception than my P800 did.

i've got a 3595 and i don't recomend it for wap use. keypad sucks for scrolling, res is to low 96x65 i think it is, and its short on storage and ram. only takes a few apps to fill it up, and larger WAP sites won't work (gives insufficient memory errors)

Are you serious? I think I first heard of WAP like 5 years ago but I haven't used it myself

And I think you really mean GSM unless GDSM is something else I don't know ;)
