I played BF2 for the first time this weekend and was really blown away by the graphics. Can anyone recommend a video card for $160 or under?

If you have a suggestion for a mobo I'd be happy to hear, I'm in the process of putting a machine together to take to a lan party.

Thanks

hmz, I've seen a 1950xt for about 160$, but if you wanna pay less, 7600gt 256mb works, as for mobo, what requirements does it have to meet? Also, what resolution you wan't to play at ?

Damnit, I saw this one, http://www.newegg.com/Product/...?Item=N82E16814161048R that came for 170$ with rebates, but it no longer does. Another option is this one, http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814143090, that comes at 160$ AR, and is a pretty darn powerfull card.

Theres also this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814121031 but the GeForce 7950GT will blow it away in terms of speed.

Radeon x1950pro can be had for as cheep as $125 at newegg.com

Edit: the 7950gt will not blow away the x1950pro in bf2, it will be <5fps difference

or the x1950xt can be had for $179 after rebate. Both of those will play BF2 with a good amount of eyecandy.

Here is a link where you can compare graphics cards in BF2142 (which should give you an idea for BF2)

Wait until you play Oblivion or Gears of War... ;)

I was just thinking the same thing! :D

I knew I'd get heckled for that remark, but it is true. I'm a few years behind the average gamer I guess!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! :)

1950pro or xt

you need 2Gb of ram to run smoothly though (64 player maps)

I played the 2142 demo this weekend. It was like BF2, but sucky.....

I agree, 2 GB of RAM to smooth everything out...I'm running a 7800 GT 256 right now, but that's about to upgraded to a 2900 XT this week...

BF2's a great game, I still play it all the time...Can't stand 2142 though...That game sux, IMO...

I wouldn't recommend paying more than $150 for an X1950 Pro/X1950GT/X1900GT or more than $200 for an X1950XT. And unless you want 512MB of video RAM, don't get the 7950GT. It's pretty overpriced right now and gets spanked by the X1950XT in newer games.
