Recommend me a car :P

Hey guys, I'm looking for some car recommendations for my next car.

My budget is around $ 40,000 give or take.

My main requirement is that it needs to be a daily driver car, that can go 4 seasons, Toronto winter included. I love performance cars, and I was looking at some Mustangs and a used Vette Z06, but sadly I don't think those cars can do too well in the winter?

Let's hear some suggestions 😛

You won't get a used vette in canada for 40k unless the thing is broken.

Subary Legacy.

Sure you will and I'm not only looking to buy a car in Canada, I'm looking at the US market as well and importing a car here, no big deal.

If you're not too concerned about fuel economy, it's hard to beat the Jeep SRT8 for a mix of psycho performance along with 110% winter capabilities. The used previous-gen models aren't that expensive to find lightly used.

If I had 40k to spend, wanted a 4 season performance car that wasn't a manual (kind of an oxymoron), I would likely buy a new evo MR.

for more refined choices, I would look into an audi or volvo

Doesn't have to be a manual these days to be a performance car...I think this manual craze is a North American thing. I just spent 2 months in Europe where pretty much every single car is manual and people actually enjoy the comforts of an automatic, it's quite the opposite.

Are Volvo's reliable?

My family has had pretty good luck with Volvos, with the caveat that they use a very good independent Volvo shop for repairs.

Brand new Volvo S60Rs start off at $42,500, and 3-4 years used will get you under $20k from a dealer. They should all do very well in the winter being a little heavy and having AWD, especially with good winter tires.

don't get me wrong, I enjoy the comforts of an auto... and with the new automated manuals the performance is better as well. that said, I think the fun factor is still higher when you are rowing your own gears.

regardless, if you don't feel like too much of a boy-racer in it, I personally would say get an evo MR - it has such a automated manual

I was looking at the 335d and the engine is amazing. I wish they had an xdrive version with the diesel. So if it came down to an 335i with x drive coupe vs a G7 AWD, which would you choose and why?

335xi versus G37x? The G in a heartbeat, and the overriding reason is that I trust an Infiniti to run past six figures on mileage with nothing more than basic maintenance; I expect to find the BMW getting repairs and becoming an expensive nightmare with age, everyone I've known has had nothing but problems with them.

That being said, if you want to lease and get rid of it in a few years, go test drive them both and pick whichever seems like more fun to you.
