Recommend me a camera backpack / bag

Hi All,

Recently got into the world of higher end cameras and now I need a bag...

Basic needs type deal, would probably prefer a backpack or a compact bag.

All I have right now is the camera and one lens, but down the road I may invest in a higher end lens.

Looking to spend under 40 bucks.

Thanks in advance.

I have been using the LowePro Flipside 300 for years now and it has turned out to be the perfect bag for me. Compact, lots of partitions to configure it any way you like, can be carried as a backpack, extremely well made, and comes in a variety of sizes. It looks like you can only get it in black now, but I'd but it again in a heartbeat. Know that I only carry two lenses with me at any time, but there is room for more if I need it. Great product.

I've got two bags: a Lowepro sling bag, which could hold all my equipment and a Lowepro Nova 160 bag. I've been pretty happy with both, but the sling bag tends to stay at home. I've found that the smaller bag (the Nova 160) is great for walking around: it's fairly easy to get the camera in and out, you can usually store an additional lens (I tend to walk around with a 10-22mm and a 28-70mm lens) and a few accessories.

I neglected to add that the Flipside serves as my all around bag—storage at home and to hold all I need in the field. Traveling? Theft is not an issue, as it opens from the "inside." i.e., the zippered access sits against your back when wearing it.

Only suggestion I have is to keep in mind that an obvious DSLR bag = telling people you probably have >$1k of stuff in your bag.

When I'm carrying a camera, I hide a shoulder bag style camera bag in a cheapo backpack.

I don't use camera bag, depends on what I need to carry I either use a everyday backpack or my hiking day bag(one of those with top and bottom compartment)

I put my big a$$ tele in one of those Tub shape carrier and throw in in the backpack or bottom compartment. I put my dslr with lens in a box shape thermo bag(lunch box) and put beside the tele.
