I've determined that reading ATOT day in and day out just isn't broadening my mine as it once had.

So (seriously) recommend me a good book. In the past, my favorites were Tom Clancy novels until he went all terrorist ~Clear & Present Danger. Back in my school days I found I liked some of the old Robb White novels like Up Periscope - wartime settings and things.

Not sure what else I'd be into. What do you all recommend?

I found Stephen Kings Gunslinger books to be entertaining... or at least the first 4 of them.

Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card.

This is a very good book and there are many in the series.

If you are looking for something classic check out East of Eden.

Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt (reading this right now and really enjoying it)
A Long Way Down by Nick Hornby
Eiger Dreams by Jon Krakauer
The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid: A Memoir by Bill Bryson (Absolutely hysterical, one of the funniest books I've ever read)

Those should keep you occupied for a bit.

What the fuck are you talking about?

If you like Tom Clancy, try Brad Thor's books. They're all a series starting with Lions of Lucerne. Great stuff. Not as technical and detailed as Clancy, but that's not always such a bad thing.

I'll say the same thing I tell anyone else: If you haven't read Guns, Germs and Steel then do. I would say the same for any Diamond book really.
