Recommend me a board

Been a while since I've built a new machine.

Been doing lots of audio work lately, so I finally have a reason to really upgrade.

My current desktop build is an old 939 Athlon 64 X2, and I'm a long time fan and AMD user, but I gotta go with intel on this build.

So, I'm going to be picking up a core i5.. probably the 2500k.

What's a good full ATX board for it?

Probably want to post a little more details. Like what you plan to use the pc for, budget, OCing, how you want to run your RAM (ie dual channel, triple channel etc). This will prob net you more results. Personally I'm with denis280, I'd go with ASUS or AsRock.

Going to be used for mostly music production. Might do a lil gaming on it. Just SC2 and Probably Diablo 3 when that comes out. For audio, I'll be using a usb external m-audio box that's needed to run Pro - Tools.

Just trying to find out what the majority of core i5 users here would recommend these days.

I'll probably be throwing 8-16 gb of ram in it, probably 1 ssd for the OS and primary apps. 1 HDD for data, 1 dvd/cd-rw,.. That's about all.

I'm using an Intel DP67BG with my i7 2600k. This motherboard with the latest version 2161 BIOS, I have not run into any problems with it and it's been a stable board. Only thing about it is that I wish it had an option to disable C1E in the BIOS so my 3.4GHz CPU does not idle at 1.6GHz, but other than that I think it's a very good quality board. If you're into overclocking, then I recommend another brand board that's well know for overclocking because with this one you can only overclock via the turbo boost multipliers.

What DAW app are you goign to use. Sonar X1 is a HT multi threaded app. and you would need a 2600k for 8 threads. Also 16GB ram with a 460 1GB will do, unless you play games and are hard core serious and wanna SLI then it gets complicated..

Fruity Loops, Sound Forge, Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas Photoshop, Sonar X1 , Reason,,,

All these are multi threaded apps. meaning if you go to with the 2500k you will have 4 threads, to work with while if you get the 2600k you will have 8 threads and virtually a PC that never goes to 100 percent load unless your video rendering...gl

and for motherboard grab a ASUS Z68 board and call it a night

The ability to disable C1E/EIST, as well as the other C-states, is actually important for music-production workstations, that require lowest-possible latency processing.
